Sioux Falls Popcorn Ceiling Removal Co. is a family-owned and operated, licensed and insured popcorn ceiling removal and ceiling refinishing company based in Sioux Falls, SD, working on homes here since 2016. The same 4-person crew handles every job, with 10 years of hands-on experience behind it.
Why only ceilings?
Ceilings are awkward work. You are overhead all day, the mess goes everywhere if you are careless, and a finish that looks fine at noon can show every flaw when evening sun comes through a west window. General contractors and painters often treat popcorn removal as a side job. We built our whole process around it: containment, removal, repairs, skim coating, primer and paint, in one schedule with one crew.
One crew, one scheduleHow we work
Testing first on older homes. If a ceiling could date from before the mid-1980s, we arrange an asbestos test through an independent inspector and an accredited lab before anyone scrapes. We do not take the samples ourselves and we do not do abatement. If a result is positive, we refer you to state-certified abatement contractors and come back for the finish work.
Sealed rooms. Plastic on floors and walls, zipper doors, vents sealed, fixtures down. The mess stays in the room and leaves the house in bags.
Wet methods. Texture is misted and scraped, never dry-sanded.
A finished ceiling. Repairs, skim coats, stain-blocking primer and flat ceiling paint are part of the plan, unless you tell us you want to handle the finishing yourself.

Sioux Falls and nearby townsWhat we do not do
Being clear about this saves everyone time:
- We do not perform asbestos abatement.
- We do not take asbestos samples ourselves; independent inspectors do.
- We do not do roofing, flooring, kitchens or full remodels.
- We do not repair structural framing. If we find framing damage, we will tell you and recommend a carpenter.
